Off to the app – finally reach everyone

Off to the app – finally reach everyone

Implementation idea

The client would like to introduce an employee app as a future-proof communication channel. The decision has already been made – our task will be to select the technical options and provide communication support during the introduction phase.

Challenges

As is so often the case, corporate culture was not the best friend of change. Although the management recognized the importance of communicative change, it was not so easy to shed the restrictive form of information policy that had been cultivated over generations. Up to now, it had been the case that people only talked about things that were completed and successful.

First steps

It is important for the customer to get a good overview of the options offered by different providers. We analyze a wide range of suitable tools and create a decision template based on a specification sheet. In the end, the decision is made in favor of a product that best suits the needs of the target group and the customer’s budget and even more than meets the technical expectations.

And yet there is still a gap to close: the management’s skepticism about an app that would completely change the previous communication situation and the critical first weeks of the go-live. So we opted for a step-by-step onboarding of the various specialist areas and started with the most agile and youngest unit.

The result

After just one week, 80% of colleagues from the starter group were already using the app, and after 2.5 weeks, the largest unit was able to follow suit, meaning that after just a few weeks, all 1,500 employees in Germany were using the new communication options. In addition to successful accompanying communication, the intuitive approach of the product is certainly one of the success criteria for the acceptance of the app. The international locations are now gradually being on-boarded. Thanks to a sophisticated translation function, there are no language barriers to consider.
