MPC is completing its current change process after a phase of intensive restructuring (for the time being). A high level of participation and a focus on a sense of togetherness will determine the future nature of cross-location collaboration. The framework for this is a new working loft at the Hamburg location.
Following a structural realignment that accompanied the transition from an agency to a consultancy firm, this has now also taken shape in spatial terms – in the form of a new working loft in Hamburg-Winterhude.
“In recent months, we, like all other companies, have given a lot of thought to our optimal form of collaboration, which no longer relies on a fixed presence in the office, but on a shared culture, an agile mindset and a sense of togetherness,” explains Managing Director Andrea Montua. “Hybrid work requires careful preparation and continuous support. It’s not something that digital-savvy teams can ‘just get on with’. At MPC, we initiated a participatory process back in 2020. We were supported by an experienced team coach and precisely analyzed the wishes and needs of our employees. In fact, as we know from our customers, our employees also want a safe haven in the form of shared work and, at the same time, the flexibility that comes with remote working. The aim therefore had to be to combine the two in the best possible way.”
A working loft for good work and close exchange
For MontuaPartner, the change was therefore associated with a move. In order to be able to work well together in the long term, the team wanted a shared home in the form of a working loft, where atmosphere and personal contact were not neglected. This was found in an urban villa with a large garden in Hamburg’s Winterhude district. It offers plenty of open space, a library and a wide range of options for group and focus work. Guest rooms are available for overnight stays for team members from other locations. This solution eliminates the need for anonymous hotels and promotes team spirit.
Components of the Change
Other elements of the change process included agreements for transparent salary and bonus structures, a mental health risk assessment, the joint development of a management concept and budgets for individual training and travel expenses, which are intended to support collaboration at different locations regardless of the customer. The team also developed and adopted regulations for the future nature of collaboration and revised the existing catalog of values.
“The rooms are fantastic. If we could have built our own, they would have looked exactly the same. They fulfill our wishes and requirements one hundred percent, regardless of whether our employees need more time for focus work or teamwork or simply a break in the countryside. And our customers benefit too: All the experience we gain in our own process also benefits them through our advice,” says Andrea Montua.
