For a cup of tea with… Prof. Dr. Gerald Hüther

Back to happiness: our brain is constantly striving to achieve a harmonious state. This principle is based on the second law of thermodynamics: less energy consumption ensures stability. Happiness is therefore not a permanent state, but a process of constant adaptation. Aha.
Problems and challenges, however unwelcome they may often be, therefore promote our development. However, this only applies if we don’t make ourselves the object of other people’s expectations, but instead embrace change and want it ourselves. And if we also cultivate relationships at eye level and find peace within ourselves and with other people. Gerald Hüther clearly states the key to unlocking our potential: it is a culture of mutual encouragement and inspiration.
And before we get carried away with our enthusiasm, let us warn you: The number of clever sentences and aha moments is particularly high in this podcast.

Prof. Dr. Gerald Hüther is one of the best-known brain researchers in Germany. He studied and researched in Leipzig and Jena before moving to the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine in Göttingen in 1979. As a Heisenberg Fellow of the German Research Foundation and Professor of Neurobiology at the University of Göttingen, he made his mark on neurobiological prevention research. He also headed a research department at the psychiatric clinic in Göttingen. Since 2015, he has led the Academy for Potential Development, which he founded. Hüther is a sought-after author, speaker and consultant and acts as a “bridge builder” between science and life practice.
