Really know what works – simply measure internal communication

We dare say that the term “communication controlling” triggers acute procrastination in every second communicator. We hear this again and again and know it from our own experience. And because we want to change this, we have made communication controlling easy. Yes, it is possible. Together with buchele cc, the experts for communication controlling, we have created a product: “Measuring internal communication simply”.

Why is it so important to measure the success of your internal communication? Because sometimes it is not enough to have the feeling that the 20,000 euro film was well received. Perhaps the blog created with on-board resources had a much greater impact on employees. Knowledge is a good companion if you want to make your own work more relevant and also if you want to face doubters with confidence. Do you need more reasons to set up communication controlling? We have collected the most important ones:

  1. Control: Your resources, i.e. your budget and the deployment and utilization of your team, can be managed precisely if you are sure where and how much effort is worthwhile.
  2. Legitimize: Many wishes, but too little budget? With your measured successes and demonstrable needs, you can legitimize the effectiveness and necessity of your work and request more budget if necessary.
  3. Customize: For whom does what actually fit? How many colleagues do we actually reach? This also means communication controlling: addressing target groups more precisely and the opportunity to sharpen up where internal communication is not yet reaching them.
  4. Effect: You not only know what is received, but also how it is received. Are intranet posts read, videos watched and podcasts listened to? How do employees rate the posts? Increase the effectiveness of internal communication by only producing what actually fits.
  5. Planning: Your topic planning no longer comes (only) from your gut, but (also) from experience. With the IC measurement, you learn a lot about what your target groups want and can do justice to this.
  6. Adjust: Sometimes the direction just needs to be adjusted a little to achieve the goal. If you know the effectiveness of your measures, you can readjust – even during a process.
  7. Positioning: With reliable figures and evaluations, Internal Communications can position itself as an important strategic partner within the company.
  8. Achieve: Setting and achieving goals. From “I think that went well” to “That went well because we knew how to reach our colleagues.” Communication becomes measurable and can therefore be operationalized in order to achieve corporate goals.
